What Winning Really Means
If you asked me a few years ago what “winning” meant, I probably would’ve said it was about achieving goals, building something meaningful, and seeing hard work pay off. But life — and God — have a way of teaching us that real winning looks much different than what the world shows us.
When You Find Yourself in the Fire
This past season of my life has been one of the hardest I’ve ever faced. I found myself walking through a painful situation that shook me deeply, one that involved people I once trusted and worked alongside. It wasn’t just about the circumstances; it was about my heart being tested in ways I never imagined.
There were moments I wanted to shout my truth from the rooftops, to defend myself, to make people see what really happened. But in those moments, God whispered, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)
Those words became my lifeline. They reminded me that I didn’t have to prove my worth or my truth to anyone, because God already knew. My job wasn’t to fight in the world’s way, but to walk in His peace, His timing, and His truth.
Redefining Winning
Winning, I’ve learned, isn’t about proving who’s right. It’s about keeping your heart right. It’s choosing character over comfort, peace over pride, and faith over fear. Sometimes the biggest victory isn’t in what happens around you, it’s in what happens within you. God doesn’t measure success by outcomes. He measures obedience. If we stay faithful when it’s hard, love when it hurts, and trust when we don’t understand, that’s a win in Heaven’s eyes.
Choosing Grace Over Bitterness
I’d be lying if I said this journey hasn’t left scars. But even in the pain, I’ve seen God’s hand bring healing, protection, and purpose. I’ve learned that bitterness only keeps us bound, but grace – grace sets us free.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)
Loving people who have hurt you isn’t easy, but it’s powerful. It’s the kind of winning that doesn’t make headlines, but it makes Heaven rejoice.
Standing in Victory
And here’s the truth that keeps me going: the victory has already been won.
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)
That means I don’t have to live in fear, frustration, or defeat. No matter what happens in this world, in courtrooms, in relationships, or behind closed doors, God’s justice and mercy still stand. I’ve come to see that winning isn’t about a verdict or validation. It’s about walking in truth, standing in peace, and trusting that even when people don’t understand your heart, God does.
So yes, I’m still learning, still healing, still trusting. But I can say with full confidence: I am winning – because I’m letting God write the story, and His stories always end in redemption.
